The 26th Annual Art Show Gala Preview
By Henry Street Settlement
Beautiful people – philanthropists, art enthusiasts, and business, cultural and civic leaders – and beautiful works of art filled the Park Avenue Armory on March 4, 2014, for the 26th Annual Art Show.
Established in 1989 to benefit Henry Street’s vital programs, the show is one of the highlights of Armory Week in New York, and a not-to-be-missed event on New York’s social and cultural calendars. It is organized by the Art Dealers Association of America.
Spotted among the Gala Preview guests were artist Christo, Franklin Furnace founder Martha Wilson and tennis star John McEnroe. Honorary Chair of the event was Agnes Gund. Co-chairs were Bunty Armstrong, Janine and J. Tomilson Hill, Alexandra Lebenthal and Byron and Anita Volz Wien.
“We were honored to welcome so many old and new friends in such a lovely setting,” said David Garza, Executive Director of Henry Street Settlement. “The Art Show provides essential support to the Settlement, support that allows us to continue the important work begun in 1893 to open doors of opportunity to our vulnerable neighbors.
The Art Show open to the public from March 5 to 9, from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $25. Tickets are available at the door of the Armory.
The Silent Auction of 2014 Art Show is live on Paddle8 and features works by eight celebrated contemporary artists. This year’s auction highlights artists and galleries that are part of our shared Lower East Side arts community.
