Students enrolled in Henry Street’s Universal Pre-K classrooms at 301 Henry Street had the pleasure of listening to bestselling children’s author and illustrator Rosemary Wells read her book Bunny Cakes, part of her Max and Ruby series, for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record on October 21, 2014.
Following the story, volunteers from Jumpstart’s corporate partner, CVC Capital Partners, worked with the children to craft and color pictures of cakes inspired by the book, as well as by the children’s own favorite cakes.
The classrooms at 301 Henry Street were among the many sites across the country where children and adults read Wells’ Bunny Cakes together for Read for the Record. Read for the Record is Jumpstart’s campaign to celebrate children’s literacy with the largest shared reading experience in the world.
