Project Hope Helps Those Affected by Hurricane Sandy
By Henry Street Settlement
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Henry Street was chosen as a provider agency for Project Hope, a grant-funded program that provides crisis counseling, educational information and resource linkage to those affected by the superstorm.
Project Hope provides individual and group counseling, educational workshops, and presentations and referrals to services. The program serves individuals, families, schools, businesses, community groups and service organizations.
Some 25 new employees, hired for Project Hope, are in the community helping individuals impacted by the storm regain a sense of control, adjust to the disaster, manage stress and connect to community resources.
